What is a stream?
A stream is a private space where teachers and students to read together. Teachers name their classroom stream during the account creation process. Students need their classroom stream code in order to see available live sessions.
Is there a limit on the number of streams a teacher can have?
Yes, a teacher can only create and manage one active stream at a time.
Is there a limit to the number of students who can join my live session?
No, there is no limit. Some educators use Storyvoice to read with their class of twenty students, while others have district-wide streams where 100s of students are joining live storytelling sessions every night.
Are sessions always live, or can they be pre-recorded?
Currently, all Storyvoice sessions are live.
Are students able to participate in the live session?
Yes, students are able to participate by raising their hand. Once they are called on, their teacher will be able to hear them speaking over audio.
Will you ever see a student's video in the app?
No, a student's video is never displayed in Storyvoice.
What data do you collect from students?
To use Storyvoice, students must enter their first name and their classroom stream code. We do not collect any email, student ID, or last names. You can read our full data privacy policy here.
Do I have to pay to use the app?
No, there is currently no cost to use Storyvoice.

What kind of content is available in the app?
We are constantly sourcing and adding new copyright free and publisher partner content into the app.
Can I use my own stories and materials?
Yes, you can upload your own PDF and Word docs directly into your Storyvoice library. You upload your materials by filling out this form.

Storyvoice was created to help ensure every child, everywhere, always has someone to read a story with. We believe that by empowering educators with this tool, more children will gain regular access to live reading experiences, leading to improved literacy and learning outcomes.
